Powered Parachutes Frequently Asked Questions

There Are No Foolish Questions When You Are Learning To Fly!

Take Off & Landing
Q:
Do you need a runway to take-off or land?
A: No, AVCAT can take-off or land on any level open area including pasture or farm land. The wide tread Tundra aviation balloon tires roll easily on almost any terrain. The AVCAT is designed and powered to become airborne following a very brief rollout when the Parachute fills with air and full power is applied.

Controls
Q: Are the controls complicated?
A: No, the Throttle on the pilots right controls speed and altitude, the Rudder Bars turn the AVCAT left or right.

Fuel
Q:
Does AVCAT require high octane Aviation Fuel?
A:
No, AVCAT operates efficiently on 90, or 96 octane gasoline available at any service station.

Safety
Q:
What happens if you lose power?
A: You are flying slowly with an open parachute canopy designed to lift the Aircraft when engine power is applied and to slowly float to earth when power is off, a natural sequence. Using your turning bars to control the aerodynamic canopy as you approach the ground, you can land as safely as you would with power.

Storage
Q:
Do I need a hangar?
A: You won't need to endure the high cost of renting Hangar space
. Here is why. With the parachute in the rugged storage bag and attached to the airframe, the AVCAT fits easily in a garage space, under a carport, or with the custom full-cover tarp, it can be stored in your back yard.
